Vintage port is one of the great treasures of the wine world. At Churchill's, we see ourselves as both vintage evangelists and guardians of its secrets, crafting uniquely powerful vintage ports with the potential to age a lifetime. Johnny likes to say that we make vintage port for our children and grandchildren, not for ourselves. And we bring this emphasis on ageing potential and timeless style to every element of our vintage processes. Churchill's Vintage Ports balance structure, grip, fruit, and acidity to create powerful wines that stand out for their character and stand up to tradition.

"CHURCHILL'S 1997 WAS THE UGLY DUCKLING THAT SUDDENLY MATURED INTO A BEAUTIFUL SWAN."
A Vintage Port in the classic style; not so matured as the 1994 but with a concentration of fresher “greener” fruit. It has what we call in the trade a “steel girder”; i.e. a good tannin structure which binds and balances the fruit and ensures good ageing potential.

"THE 2000 VINTAGE IS A MILESTONE IN CHURCHILL'S HISTORY. IT'S THE FIRST VINTAGE YEAR SINCE WE HAVE BEEN PORT PRODUCERS AND NOT 'JUST' PORT WINE SHIPPERS."
"The 2000 Vintage is a milestone in Churchill's history. It's the first Vintage year since we have been port producers and not 'just' Port wine shippers. The Vintage blend now includes wines produced at Quinta da Gricha. The word I would use to describe the 2000 Churchill is intensity". - Johnny Graham, 2021.

"Full, dark colour with a strong purple hue. The nose is closed but powerfull and complex with an underlying aroma of concentrated ripe berries. On the palate there is good intensity, excellent natural acidity and a very fine long finish. A well balanced wine that reminds me in style of a blend of the 2000 and the 1994 Vintages." - Johnny Graham, 2021.

"IN ALL MY 39 VINTAGES I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED YOUNG PORTS WITH SUCH COLOUR, STRUCTURE AND INTENSITY."
"The sheer fruit intensity of the Churchill’s 2011 Vintage is still very much present within its tannic structure. I think it will give more and more pleasure as years go by and It is certainly a Vintage Port with which to celebrate the turn of the next century." - Johnny Graham, 2021.

"In the spring of 2015 we decided to make the blend as a potential Vintage and were impressed with its concentration and tannic structure. Although we were hesitant to declare 2014 because the quantity available is so small, we never doubted the quality of this Vintage. I was particularly impressed by the "leather" hardness of the 2014 wines." - Johnny Graham, 2021.

"There is also a raw, wild character about our Churchill’s 2017 Vintage Port. Rather like the 2011, the Churchill’s 2017 is a striking Vintage that will give a great deal of pleasure for years to come." - Johnny Graham, 2021.

“This is a big, ripe year where the natural acidity of Quinta da Gricha plays an important role in the Vintage blend. With a powerful ox-blood colour, this muscular Port has a fresh vein of tannin that enhances its fruity aroma, bringing vibrancy to its rich, jammy palate and ensuring a balanced and elegant finish. This is a concentrated but fresh Vintage Port with an intrinsic quality to age beautifully in bottle for several decades.” - Johnny Graham, 2022.
