1982 bar is set in Churchill’s garden, an oasis of terraced green in the middle of the ancient Gaia entrepot, providing a perfect place to connect with friends and family. Named after the year of Churchill’s first Vintage declaration, the bar’s casual vibe and minimalist-natural style live up to Churchill’s distinction as the first port house of the millennial generation.

1982 Bar lives in Churchill’s garden, a unique
oasis of green amidst the ancient grey warehouses of Cais da Gaia.

If that seems recent for a town and industry
steeped in history, you’re right. Despite our famous name, Churchill’s is really a
start-up port house. We were founded by winemaker Johnny Graham 1981 when
he was just 29 years old because he wanted to make a drier style of port and run
a business in his own way. 40 years later, Johnny still makes the wine and is now
supported by the next generation of his family running the company, who were
born only slightly after the company.

At Churchill’s we have always kept this part of our lodge untouched to remind us of the wild nature of the Douro Valley and provide a special place to enjoy our ports and our
wines within the big city. Summer 2020 seemed like the right moment to share our
special spot with the world. We hope you enjoy it!
