"Wild plum and berry flavours are concentrated and well rounded in this balanced, fresh-tasting red, which shows hints of chocolate on the finish.”

"At the time of the declaration, most of the industry thought that the 1982 Ports were too mature to have the necessary structure and longevity potential for a Vintage Port, and came out in favor of the 1983. In Churchill's case, I was not satisfied with the potential of our 1983, but felt the 1982 was rich and beautifully balanced. Hailing from the older vineyards of Água Alta, Manuela and Fojo, I felt this 1982 had enough tannin structure to balance the opulent fruit. After 39 years, I'm glad I was right. Although it tastes beautiful now, I think it will continue to age well, gaining concentration and maintaining its elegant balance." - Johnny Graham, 2021.

Deep purple color. Still closed in the aroma. Exuberant complexity and structure on the palate and supported by a well-defined tonic structure.

Produced with old vines from the Cima Corgo sub-region in the Douro Valley, this Churchill's 1982 Vintage Port combines the more concentrated and powerful style of Quinta da Água Alta with the elegant and aromatic style of Quinta da Manuela and Quinta do Fojo.

THE YEAR

1982 was a very dry year. Winter was cold and the Summer was very hot. This was one of the earliest harvests at that time. With low production, but very good quality. The wines were delicate and elegant, with great concentration of aromas.
