"Wild plum and berry flavours are concentrated and well rounded in this balanced, fresh-tasting red, which shows hints of chocolate on the finish.”

"This Vintage is all about quality and class. Pure Vintage quality with its predominant blend of Quinta da Gricha wines, which brings its resinous aroma and the 4x4 mineral trait that will ensure longevity". - Johnny Graham, 2021.

A rich and solid purple colour; on the nose, a combination of wild lavender and concentrated blackberries, broad shouldered and complex on the palate with a meaty structure and lingering tannin; a classic Vintage Port to put away in the cellar for many years.

Produced with old vines (on average over 50 years old) in the Douro Valley, of which the backbone comes from the old vines of Quinta da Gricha. This was the first time we have included a wine from the Douro Superior in our Churchill's Vintage blend; a richer, riper style of wine to compliment the finer, more intense style of wine from the Quintas in the Cima-Corgo.

THE YEAR

Following a winter of high rainfall in 2006/2007, the spring and early summer conditions of 2007 in the Douro were warm and humid. The potential crop was about 10% below average and certain low-lying regions of the Douro were affected by outbreaks of mildew and oidium. The summer was hot with maximum temperatures in July and August regularly over 40ºC. Some rainfall in late August helped to bring the grapes to final maturation and, with the exception of one day of heavy rain in late September, the vintage conditions were perfect, with hot and dry weather conditions continuing well into mid-October.
