"Wild plum and berry flavours are concentrated and well rounded in this balanced, fresh-tasting red, which shows hints of chocolate on the finish.”

Very deep violet colour to the rim. On the nose, intense aromas of fresh blueberries combined with resinous and menthol notes. Full of complexity and intensity on the palate, combines an excellent natural acidity with a very well defined tannic structure in a long and persistent finish. - Johnny Graham and Ricardo Pinto Nunes.

Quinta da Gricha is located on the South bank of the river Douro between Pinhão and Tua with a North facing aspect. The 50 hectare property comprises a vineyard are of approximately 19 hectares with an altitude of 150-250 meters above sea level. This Vintage Port was sourced exclusively from the old vineyards.

THE YEAR

The viticultural year 2014/2015 can be considered an atypical year. The Winter was quite cold and dry and the Spring and Summer exceptionally warm and dry. For its influence both on vine growth and grape maturation, we can highlight the low levels of precipitation along the growth cycle and the high temperatures in June and July. Due to these weather circumstances, the grapes were in perfect sanitary conditions but the vines suffered from hydric stress, especially in Cima Corgo and Douro Superior sub-regions. This phenomenon implicated a reduction of the bunch size and variations of the maturation evolution. The maturation was slightly uneven, according to the vineyard's exposition, being slower in lower altitude vineyards or more exposed to the heat. The rain that occurred on the 15th and 16th of September helped in the fine-tuning of the quality of the grapes, with a very high overall quality.
