"Wild plum and berry flavours are concentrated and well rounded in this balanced, fresh-tasting red, which shows hints of chocolate on the finish.”

A dark red cherry colour with violet shades. On the nose, a seductive combination of blueberries and wild mint. On the palate, a rich balance of green tea notes with ripe juicy flavours finishing with great length and acidity. An outstandingly elegant Single Quinta Vintage Port. - Johnny Graham and Ricardo Pinto Nunes.

Quinta da Gricha is located on the South bank of the river Douro between Pinhão and Tua with a North facing aspect. The 50 hectare property comprises a vineyard are of approximately 19 hectares with an altitude of 150-250 meters above sea level. This Vintage Port was sourced exclusively from the old vineyards.

THE YEAR

Following a winter of high rainfall in 2006/2007, the spring and early summer conditions of 2007 in the Douro were warm and humid. The potential crop was about 10% below average and certain low-lying regions of the Douro were affected by outbreaks of mildew and oidium. The summer was hot with maximum temperatures in July and August regularly over 40ºC. Some rainfall in late August helped to bring the grapes to final maturation and, with the exception of one day of heavy rain in late September, the vintage conditions were perfect, with hot and dry weather conditions continuing well into mid October.
