Quinta da Gricha 2000 is a bigger wine than the 1999 but has the same marvellous combination of finesse and power. Dark full ruby colour with violet edges. Heavy aroma of gum cistus, blueberries and spices. On the palate, compact plummy flavour with lively but well defined tannins. - Johnny Graham
Quinta da Gricha is located on the South bank of the river Douro between Pinhão and Tua with a North facing aspect. The 50 hectare property comprises a vineyard are of approximately 19 hectares with an altitude of 150-250 meters above sea level. This Vintage Port was sourced exclusively from the old vineyards.
THE YEAR
Dry winter, with 15/40% less rain. Warm February and March, rain in April and May. Some rain from June to August. Slow maturation: harvest delayed two weeks. Temperature in September around 40ºC. Excellent quality wines, concentrated and appealing from a young age, very evident fruit.
