technical sheet

A deep red colour with a garnet rim. A nose of wild blackberries and gum cistus. Compact and complex, with excellent freshness and vinosity and along and lively finish.

At Churchill’s, we believe that patience is an essential element in producing the finest Ports. This belief comes to life in our Cellar-Aged LBV 2003: sourced from the same Grade A vineyards as our declared Vintage Ports, bottled unfiltered after four years in wood, and then laid down in our private cellars for more than two decades.

2003 was itself a Vintage Year, marked by exceptional intensity of fruit and finesse. This LBV therefore carries true Vintage pedigree — a Port that bridges the richness of a Vintage with the patience of cellar ageing. Over the years, it has gained elegance, velvet texture, and layers of dark fruit complexity, reaching its perfect drinking age today.

Cellar-Aged LBVs are rare. Unlike traditional LBVs, which are typically released within a few years, this wine has been allowed to evolve undisturbed for over 20 years — making it a singular expression of Churchill’s style.

We’re releasing just 50 bottles online — a unique opportunity to experience a Port shaped by time, history and patience.
